Weather Woes

So, I’ve had solar panels since spring and I have to say that for the most part they are great, but there are times when it is frustrating.

The most obvious of times is when there is less daylight, that means more times drawing out of the batteries and less times putting energy into the batteries.

The other times is during cloudy days as then you have that feeling of being cheated. You have daylight but not enough to put a charge into the batteries and run all of the stuff you want to run.

During the day, when there is plenty of daylight is when you get that feeling of “bonus power” as you are not only putting energy into your batteries (for when darkness comes) but you also get to run all of your fancy and cool electrical stuff . . . like the fridge . . . and the laptop.

All in all, having solar power is just another way my life is affected and altered by the weather.

As always: Keep your head up, your attitude positive, and keep moving forward!

  1. Set up a hybrid system that runs 24/7 by adding a wind turbine. There are those that are verticle. It's an investment or you can go the do it yourself route. This would compensate for the lack of sun or overcast days as usually they are also more windy.
