A Wonderful Wander Through Waterton Lakes

Yesterday we left Blackfalds in the late morning, not long after I posted the blog. We stopped off in Calgary to top up the fuel and get some groceries for the trip.

Here is a picture of me driving . . . I did that a lot yesterday.

On the way we saw a good deal of those power windmills, here are some.

We also saw lots of lovely scenery down here. Here are some nice shots.

I had looked online into booking a site at Waterton, but all I could find were “not reservable” sites. That meant, that it was first come first served on the day. When we got to Waterton, all of the sites were taken and some reserved *growl* even the private campsites near Waterton were full.

In the end we ended up turning around and heading back to Pincher Creek and staying in the Walmart parking lot there. The day did end with a lovely sunset, check it out.

We are now planning on going slowly (no pun intended) through the Crowsnest Pass and see a few tourist stops there. There is a museum of the Crowsnest and a mine where you can go down.

We are not sure where we are going to end up tomorrow night, as we don’t know how far we will get. That is part of the fun of this trip the not knowing, the literally taking each day as it comes. Today may turn out completely differently than we had planned, and that is okay, as long as it isn’t six (or so) hours of driving, that will be good enough for me.
